Let’s Talk Summer Jobs

In a recent post, I mentioned the new Summer Jobs Program policy; and, with summer just around the corner,  I simply must bring it up again.  I have to talk about this new clause that our Trudeau government has so thoughtlessly implemented with no vote or discussion or anything! He just put it out there – just like that!!

Every summer, the Canadian government provides wage subsidies to companies to create and encourage employment for students.  This year, our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, decided to add a few check boxes to this application.  If the company does not check off the box showing support of abortion, among other things, the company will not receive this funding.

Now, let’s get some stats on the table. Catholics make up 39% of the population and 28.3% of the population are made up of various denominations that believe Christ is God (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Canada). That’s over half of Canada’s population – the country Trudeau is head of, may I remind him!!  It is no secret; in fact, no one can deny that it’s blatantly obvious that the Trudeau government has a mission and will do anything to accomplish it.

Do the Canadian people no longer have a say in anything?  I mean, take the changing of the lyrics of our National Anthem of the past 100+ years.  With no consultation or discussion or even polling, they just change it!  How many wanted it changed?  I can almost guarantee that way more than a handful of Canadians (it only took a handful of women to push the change) were completely satisfied and happy with it just the way it was!

Section 15 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms from Canada’s Constitution CLEARLY states:

“15.(1) Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability.

(2) Subsection (1) does not preclude any law, program or activity that has as its object the amelioration of conditions of disadvantaged individuals or groups including those that are disadvantaged because of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability.”

This Summer Jobs Clause violates, first and foremost, the rights of Christ the King; and secondly, our own rights, as Canadian citizens – I mean, we are not even protected by Canada’s Charter anymore.  How does the Trudeau government constantly put themselves above the law?  And since when is it okay to repress Catholics and make them deny their beliefs??  It doesn’t seem the government holds that standard to anyone but us.

But it’s not just the government, it’s the media which feeds this mentality against Catholics.  Just this past Easter, 2 Catholic churches in Halifax were vandalized with the most obscene words (which shamefully included “Jesus”) written across the church doors.  Where was the media to report this crime, besides embedded in hard-to-find news articles? And where was Trudeau’s condemnation of this vandalism?  So many I have spoken to never even heard of the incident!  I’m no supporter of any type of vandalism to any building of worship, but please stop feeding the people with this double standard mentality and spreading the message by your silence that this is okay, so long as it’s not against buildings of other faiths!

Here are just a few examples. Trudeau took no time to release this statement: “I have noted with deep regret a number of highly disturbing acts aimed at certain Canadians, including the fire at the mosque in Peterborough, the smashing of windows at a Hindi temple in Kitchener, and the attack on a Muslim woman in Toronto.” Trudeau said in a statement released Wednesday. (CTV News, November 28, 2015)

And again, he didn’t waste any time to state there was “no place” for anti-Semitism in Canada. He then tweets: “Sending my full support to the Canadian Jewish community,” linking this to an article about incidents which took place at several synagogues in December of 2017. (Times of Israel, December 20, 2017)

Vandalism is a crime and a sin, regardless of its extent.  And to us, Catholics, those words written across the door of those churches in Halifax are blasphemous and a complete mockery of God.

I have no problem speaking out against such cowardly acts of vandalism to any place of worship; just don’t pick and choose what suits your political agenda and remain silent to us, Catholics, and to such atrocities.

So, double standard?  Yes.  And Trudeau, who claims he’s Catholic, leads by this double standard and feeds this spirit to everyone.  It makes no sense; but, with someone like Trudeau, I’ve come to realize not to expect much sense.  However, I do expect our country’s leader to adhere to his own country’s Constitution; and, as a Canadian, I certainly expect him to protect the rights of all Canadians as guaranteed by our Constitution!  How can that be asking too much?

I read somewhere that this new clause is very reflective of the betrayal of Christ by Judas.  Betray Him, and you will get the money.  And can you believe that 100+ Catholic groups actually took the silver (https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/150-catholic-groups-sign-trudeaus-pro-abortion-pledge-some-retract)?  Where has everyone’s courage gone?  Well, we know how Judas’ life ended…and we certainly know how Our Lord’s life on earth ended.  But, we have the Resurrection of Christ, not Judas, as our hope and our end.  We must continue to pray for Canada and all other countries where such attacks against Catholics (even from the leaders themselves!) are taking place.

May God have mercy on our Prime Minister, our government, and our country.
