Daily Mass

Feast of St. Bernardine of Siena

Introit Psalms 36: 30, 30

The mouth of the just shall meditate wisdom, and his tongue shall speak judgment: the law of his God is in his heart. (P.T. Alleluia, alleluia) (Ps. 36: 1) Be not emulous of evildoers: nor envy them that work iniquity. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. The mouth of the just shall meditate wisdom, and his tongue shall speak judgment: the law of his God is in his heart. (P.T. Alleluia, alleluia.)

Collect

O Lord, Jesus Who bestowed on blessed Bernardine, Thy Confessor, an unusual love for Thine holy name, we beseech Thee, by his merits and intercession, graciously pour upon us the spirit of Thy love. Who lives and reigns with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

Epistle Ecclesiasticus 31: 8-11

Happy the man found without fault, who turns not aside after gain, nor puts his trust in money nor in treasures! Who is he, that we may praise him? For he has done wonders in his life. He has been tested by gold and come off safe, and this remains his glory forever; he could have sinned but did not, could have done evil but would not, so that his possessions are secure in the Lord, and the assembly of the Saints shall recount his alms.

(During Eastertide the Gradual and Lesser Alleluia are omitted and the Greater Alleluia is said instead)

Gradual Psalms 91: 13,14

The just shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow up like the cedar of Lebanon in the house of the Lord. To show forth Thy mercy in the morning, and Thy truth in the night.

Lesser Alleluia James 1:12

Alleluia. Alleluia. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he hath been proved, he shall receive the crown of life. Alleluia.

Greater Alleluia

Alleluia. Alleluia. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation for when he hath been proved, he shall receive the crown of life. Alleluia. The Lord loved him and adorned him: He clothed him with a robe of glory. Alleluia.

Gospel Matthew 19: 27-29

At that time, Peter said to Jesus, Behold, we have left all and followed You; what then shall we have? And Jesus said to them, Amen I say to you that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit on the throne of His glory, shall also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall possess life everlasting.

Offertory Psalms 88: 25

My truth and My mercy shall be with him: and in My name shall his horn be exalted. (P.T. Alleluia.)

Secret

We offer Thee, O Lord, sacrifices of praise in commemoration of Thy saints, by whom we trust to be delivered from evils both present and future. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who lives and reigns with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

(During Eastertide)

PREFACE of Easter Season

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, certainly at all times to proclaim Thee, O Lord, but above all in this time more gloriously, when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the true Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:

(During Ascensiontide)

PREFACE of the Ascension

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God, through Christ our Lord. Who, after His Resurrection, appeared openly to all His disciples, and, while they looked on, was taken up into heaven, that He might grant unto us to be sharers in His own divinity. And therefore with the Angels and Archangels, with the Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:

Communion Matthew 24: 46-47

Blessed is that servant, whom when his lord shall come he shall find so doing. Amen I say to you, he shall place him over all his goods. (P.T. Alleluia.)

Postcommunion

We Thy suppliants, who are refreshed with heavenly food and drink, beseech Thee, O our God, that we may be fortified by the prayers of him in whose commemoration we have partaken of these gifts. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who lives and reigns with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
