Ominous Threats
During the ongoing “Special Military Operation” in Ukraine, Russian authorities have made some ominous threats about using nuclear weapons. Officials in NATO countries have likewise mentioned the use of nuclear weapons in regards to the conflict. Shortly after the invasion of Ukraine in February of this year, Vladimir Putin put Russian nuclear forces on a state of high alert.[1] On various occasions, he has signaled his willingness to use “every available means” to protect Russia.
Putin says that he is not bluffing. Back in 2018, in speaking about a theoretical nuclear strike on Russia and its response, he said: “We would be victims of an aggression and would get to heaven as martyrs, and they will just croak and not even have time to repent.”[2] However, Putin recently has said that a first strike could be ordered if the territorial integrity of Russia were threatened. The territory of Russia, in the eyes of Putin, has now been expanded to include the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.[3]
In theory, if the NATO-backed forces of Ukraine attempt to take back those territories and Russia determines that its integrity is threatened, nuclear weapons could be used. The United States has warned of “catastrophic consequences” of the use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine.[4] It seems that the world is being set up for what some have referred to as a “small-scale” nuclear exchange. Any use of nuclear weapons would be devastating, at least locally, and the possibility for escalation makes their use seem irresponsible if not reprehensible.

A Nuclear First-Strike?
There is even a threat of a large-scale nuclear exchange if things only go a little bit wrong. Russia apparently has an operational system known as “Dead Hand” or “Perimeter,” which was designed to automatically launch a second strike if a first strike is detected.[5] Several conditions would have to be met, such as the activation of the system, a break in communications with military command (such as might happen with a “decapitation strike” that takes out the country’s leadership), and detection of a nuclear explosion on Russian territory. Launch of the command rocket, which would give the signal to launch all the remaining nuclear missiles, would supposedly need to be triggered by a human. A “nuclear winter” could be the result. We can only hope and pray that it does not happen!
Russia has shown a certain willingness to negotiate an end to the situation in Ukraine, but the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines and Russia’s bridge to Crimea has all but eliminated that possibility. Earlier attempts at negotiation appear to have been undermined by NATO officials. Further, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he refuses to negotiate with Putin, and Russia responded by saying that they can wait to negotiate with the next president of Ukraine.[6]
Our Lady warned at Fatima that “various nations will be annihilated” if Russia is not converted in time. Although there was a consecration of sorts back on March 25, 2022, its efficacy is debatable.[7] Since then, the situation in the Ukraine has rapidly grown more ominous, and economic conditions in the world have deteriorated precipitously. This does not appear to have been the consecration that we were looking for. It would be prudent to fulfill Our Lady’s requests to the letter in order to avoid nuclear annihilation.
Private Revelations
There are various prophecies about military forces sweeping from the East to the West, especially those of Bl. Elena Aiello (1895-1961).[8] She was a foundress, stigmatic and mystic.[9] She even sent a letter to Mussolini in 1940, warning him to keep Italy out of WWII. One prophecy given in 1959 said this: “Russia will march upon all the nations of Europe, particularly Italy, and will raise her flag over the dome of St. Peter’s. Italy will be severely tried by a great revolution, and Rome will be purified in blood for its many sins, especially those of impurity! The flock is about to be dispersed and the Pope must suffer greatly.” [10] A prophecy given on August 22, 1960 is similar: “Another terrible war will come from the east to the west. Russia with her secret armies will battle America; will overrun Europe.”
The recent election in Italy giving the Brothers of Italy party a majority could signal the start of a revolution. There are other prophecies of a similar revolution in France. Fortunately, these prophecies do not seem to indicate a full-scale nuclear war, which would effectively end civilization, at least in the Northern Hemisphere. Unfortunately, a terrible war threatens, and a global scourge is predicted, which is known in prophecy as the Three Days of Darkness. Bl. Elena describes things this way:
(Given on Good Friday, 1950) “‘See how Russia will burn!’ Before my eyes there extended an immense field covered with flames and smoke, in which souls were submerged as if in a sea of fire. And all this fire is not that which will fall from the hands of men, but will be hurled directly from the Angels.” [Does this not remind us of the vision from the Third Secret of Fatima revealed in June 2000?]
(Given on Good Friday, 1954) “Cry out until the priests of God lend their ears to my voice, to advise men that the time is near at hand, and if men do not return to God with prayers and penances, the world will be overturned in a new and more terrible war. Arms most deadly will destroy peoples and nations! The dictators of the earth, specimens infernal, will demolish the churches and desecrate the Holy Eucharist, and will destroy things most dear. In this impious war, much will be destroyed of that which has been built by the hands of man.”
“Clouds with lightning flashes of fire in the sky and a tempest of fire shall fall upon the world. This terrible scourge, never before seen in the history of humanity, will last seventy hours [about three days]. Godless persons will be crushed and wiped out. Many will be lost because they remain in their obstinacy of sin. Then shall be seen the power of light over the power of darkness.”
(Given on Good Friday, 1955) “If men do not amend their ways, a terrifying scourge of fire will come down from Heaven upon all the nations of the world, and men will be punished according to the debts contracted with Divine justice. There will be frightful moments for all, because Heaven will be joined with the earth, and all the ungodly people will be destroyed, some nations will be purified, while others will disappear entirely.”
(Given on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, 1956) “The times are grievous. The whole world is in turmoil, because it has become worse than at the time of the deluge! [A message that was repeated in Akita, Japan in 1973.] Everything is in suspense, like a thread; when this thread breaks, the justice of God will fall like a thunderbolt and will complete its terrible course of purification.”
Although a so-called ‘limited’ nuclear war may occur, with the destruction of various nations, a global nuclear war seems unlikely. However, even a limited nuclear exchange could trigger a global economic collapse and the Great Reset being pushed by the elitist World Economic Forum. This would usher in a one-world government with a global electronic cash system, coupled to a social credit score such as they now have in Communist China. A United Nations “peacekeeping” force would stifle any dissent, and all would be expected to join the “universal brotherhood of man” religion currently being promoted by the Vatican. All this is a scenario straight out of the Apocalypse of St. John.
Some Good News
There is some good news mixed in with all the bad, however. The Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was promised. We know it will happen. Blessed Elena was also given a prayer by Our Lady to be said during these times:
(Given on Good Friday, 1955) “Priests must unite by prayers and penance. They must hasten to spread the devotion to the Two Hearts. The hour of My triumph is close at hand. The victory will be accomplished through the love and mercy of the Heart of My Son, and of My Immaculate Heart, the Mediatrix between men and God. By accepting this invitation, and by uniting their tears to those of My Sorrowful Heart, priests and religious will obtain great graces for the salvation of poor sinners.”
The “Maternal Refuge” prayer (given by Our Lady to be said with arms crossed – or perhaps with arms extended in the shape of a cross): “Queen of the universe, Mediatrix of men to God, refuge of all our hopes, have mercy on us.”
It is up to us to keep up the prayers, penances, reparation, and Rosaries, together with the monthly First Saturday devotions, in order to hasten the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart.

[9] Bl. Elena Aiello was an Italian religious sister and founder of the Minim Sisters of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ (1928). Serious illnesses prevented her from entering religious life, but she was miraculously cured by the intercession of St. Rita. Beginning in 1923, she began to experience the stigmata every Good Friday. Our Lord and Our Lady appeared to her, she suffered greatly, and died shortly before the start of the Second Vatican Council. Pius XII knew of her and approved her order in 1949. She was beatified on September 14, 2011.
