The board of directors and staff of The Fatima Center and its Italian counterpart, Associazione Madonna di Fatima Onlus, mourn the death of longtime Rome office manager, Mrs. Monica Tomassini, early in the morning of August 19, 2019 – the feast of St. John Eudes, apostle of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the anniversary of Our Lady’s apparition at Valinhos.
Especially devoted to Our Lady and to St. Padre Pio, Monica was the soul of the Rome office. Hers was a steady presence of quiet determination, extraordinary kindness and complete dedication. She was a channel of grace for Our Lady. Everyone who knew her was impressed by her dignity, her sincerity and her willingness to be of help in whatever way she could. Our work in Italy will continue, thanks to the firm foundation that Monica helped to build. But her loss will be felt. Many souls came to know of the Fatima Message through Monica’s work. She was a great help to Fr. Gruner and other Apostolate staff and volunteers in Italy and Canada alike not only in managing the office close to the Vatican, but also in the creation and work of Fatima TV, event planning and translation.
We extend our sincere condolences to her husband Sadik and daughter Tamara, and ask all of our friends to pray for the eternal repose of Monica’s soul.
