Our Lady of Akita

Fatima Not Yet Fulfilled and Still Foreboding (Part III)

Editor’s Note: The Second Part discussed how the testimony of Fr. Thomas McGlynn and Sister Lucia’s final public interview, in 1957, both indicate indisputably that Our Lady’s request for the Consecration of Russia was not fulfilled in 1952.

“The Errors of Russia Will Spread Through Every Country in the World”

Catholic historian William Thomas Walsh spoke with Sister Lucia in 1946 about Our Lady’s request that Russia be consecrated by the Pope together with the bishops to Her Immaculate Heart. Sister Lucia told Professor Walsh: “What Our Lady wants is that the Pope and all the bishops in the world shall consecrate Russia to Her Immaculate Heart on one special day. If this is done, She will convert Russia and there will be peace. If it is not done, the errors of Russia will spread through every country in the world.” Walsh asked if that meant every country, without exception, would be overcome by Communism, including the USA. Sister Lucia answered in the affirmative.

Anatoliy Golitsyn was a Soviet KGB defector and author of two books about the long-term deception strategy of the KGB leadership: New Lies for Old and The Perestroika Deception – the world’s slide toward the ‘Second October Revolution.’ In those books he explains how the idea of perestroika, promoted by Mikhail Gorbachev – the leader of the USSR at the end of the Cold War – was really a change in strategy on the part of Russia to get the West to let its guard down so that it could be all the more easily conquered in the future. This was in part due to the Reagan defense buildup, which the Soviets could not match. With the US elections of 2020, however, it appears that the Communists have indeed taken over the West.

So, according to Robert Sungenis, the “Fulfilled” part of the Fatima Message was the consecration and conversion of Russia, with the subsequent period of peace. But what about the “Still Foreboding” part? The October 13, 1973 message of Our Lady to Sister Agnes Sasagawa of Akita, Japan, was somewhat of an answer to that.

“My dear daughter, listen well to what I have to say to you. … As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never have seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, … the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see Cardinals opposing Cardinals, and bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres … churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord. The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God.”

Apparently, even Cardinal Ratzinger, aka Pope Benedict XVI, was convinced that Akita was an extension of Fatima. Although there is no mention of any consecration in the Akita message, it is a dire warning. Only repentance and amendment of life, similar to the prayer and sacrifice mentioned by Lucia in 1957, can avert a global chastisement.

So, as far as Robert Sungenis is concerned, the second part of the Fatima Message is done, but the third part, which mostly concerns the Church, is not yet over. To back that up he quotes Bishop Amaral of Leira, who said this on September 10, 1984:

“The [Third] Secret of Fatima speaks neither of atomic bombs nor of nuclear warheads, nor of SS-20 missiles. Its content concerns only our faith. To identify the secret with catastrophic announcements or a nuclear holocaust is to distort the meaning of the message. The loss of faith of a continent is worse than the annihilation of a nation; and it is true that the faith is continually diminishing in Europe.”

Too Many Pieces That Don’t Fit

But what about all those other prophecies about a French Monarch and Reforming Pope, the Three Days of Darkness, the Era of Peace, the world becoming Catholic, and the mass conversion of the Jews? Robert says that some of those have already happened. He claims that Henry V of England (1386 – 1422) could have been the French Monarch – even though he was English and invaded France during the lifetime of St. Joan of Arc. The conversion of the world already happened during the time of the British Empire, even though the rulers of the empire were Protestant. The Era of Peace was just the lack of nuclear war between the superpowers during the Cold War. The Three Days of Darkness is just a misinterpretation of Scripture and only happens right at the end of the world. According to him, the final conversion of the Jews is also a misinterpretation of Scripture, even though St. Paul clearly teaches it (cf. Romans 11) and it is universally held by the Church Fathers.

So did Father Gruner and others just waste their time in trying to get the Pope to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, together with all the Catholic bishops of the world? And are we fooling ourselves to think that God is going to destroy His enemies and bring about an unprecedented Era of Peace before the end of the world? Robert says, ‘Yes’. However, other voices say, ‘No’.

I suppose that it should be pointed out that none of this is really dogma. There are no anathemas attached to believing or not believing these prophecies, maybe other than against thinking that there will be a literal/physical 1,000-year reign of Christ before the end of the world. So you are free to decide what you want to believe about them. However, it might be helpful to know whether or not there will be Three Days of Darkness in the not-to-distant future and how to survive that. And if the Era of Peace depends on a Pope consecrating Russia together with the other bishops, that would also be important.

Venerable Mary of Agreda

So what are some of the other voices, and what do they have to say? Venerable Mary of Agreda (d. 1665) had this to say about the upcoming Triumph of the Immaculate Heart (Mystical City of God, Volume 2, The Incarnation, Book One, Chapter XXVIII):

“I have been informed of a great mystery, which affords us consolation in this conflict of the holy Church against her wicked enemies. Namely, on account of this triumph of most holy Mary and on account of another, which She gained over the demons after the Ascension of our Lord, the Almighty, in reward of Her battles, decreed, that through Her intercession and virtue all the heresies and sects of the world against the holy Church were to be destroyed and extinguished. The time appointed for this blessing was not made known to me; probably, the fulfillment of this decree is dependent upon some tacit and unknown condition.”

Of course, all of God’s enemies will certainly be destroyed by the Second Coming of Christ at the end of the world. So it would seem superfluous to say that they would be destroyed through the intercession of Our Lady, also at the end of the world. That would lead one to believe that there will be a time, before the end of the world, when the enemies of the Church will be destroyed. One could be forgiven for thinking that the “tacit and unknown condition” mentioned by Venerable Mary of Agreda for the destruction of all the heresies and sects is the collegial Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Our Lady’s Message from the 17th Century

Another apparition which references a future victory of Our Lady[1] is that of Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres of Quito, Ecuador, whom Robert Sungenis mentions in his book. Our Lady of Good Success told Mother Mariana on February 2, 1634 at 3:00 AM (sixth apparition – sanctuary light extinguished) that many horrible things would happen in the 20th century, in large part due to Freemasonry, but finally, it would all be put to an end. It would end when God sent the “Prelate” – who is likely the same Pope mentioned in other prophecies as “Peter the Roman” – to restore the Church. Some of the words of Our Lady of Good Success are these:

“To test this faith and confidence of the just, there will be occasions in which everything will seem to be lost and paralyzed. This will be, then, the happy beginning of the complete restoration.

“Pray insistently without tiring and weep with bitter tears in the secrecy of your heart, imploring our Celestial Father that, for love of the Eucharistic Heart of My Most Holy Son and His Precious Blood shed with such generosity and by the profound bitterness and sufferings of His cruel Passion and Death, He might take pity on His Ministers and quickly bring to an end those ominous times, sending to this Church the Prelate that will restore the spirit of its Priests. My Most Holy Son and I will love this most favored son with a love of predilection, and We shall gift him with a rare capacity, a humility of heart, a docility to divine inspiration, the strength to defend the rights of the Church, and a tender and compassionate heart, so that, like another Christ, he will assist the great and the small, without despising the more unfortunate souls who ask him for light and counsel in their doubts and hardships. With divine suavity, he will guide souls consecrated to the service of God in the cloisters, making light the yoke of the Lord, Who said, ‘My yoke is sweet, and my burden light’. Into his hand the scales of the Sanctuary will be placed so everything is weighed with due measure and God will be glorified. The lukewarmness of all the souls consecrated to God in the priestly and religious state will delay the coming of this Prelate and Father.

“In order to dissipate this black cloud, that prevents the Church from enjoying the clear day of liberty, there will be a formidable and frightful war, which will see the bloodshed of countrymen and of foreigners, of secular and regular priests, as well as that of religious. This night will be most horrible, for, humanly speaking, evil will seem to triumph. This, then, will mark the arrival of My hour, when I, in a marvelous way, will dethrone the proud and cursed Satan, trampling him under My feet and fettering him in the infernal abyss. Thus the Church and Country will be finally free of his cruel tyranny.”

Robert argues that the words of Our Lady of Good Success were reiterated by Our Lady of Fatima, so that World War II would seem to be the “frightful war” and Pius XII the “Prelate.” However, the Cold War which began right after the end of World War II hardly seemed like a “complete restoration” where the Church and Country were freed from the “cruel tyranny” of Satan. If anything, World War II introduced many new errors into the world, not the least of which was forcing women out of the home and into the workplace. Pius XII was a good Pope, but he does not fit the bill of the “Prelate” and is too early to be the “Peter the Roman” of the prophetic list of St. Malachy. Actually, Pius XII was the “Angelic Shepherd” according to the best interpretation I have seen of that list.

To be continued, as more prophetic voices are added to this overwhelming list of evidence that Russia is not yet consecrated.
