Fatima Center Vignettes: Father Knew Immediately

J.M.J.

Andrew Cesanek and I were both there that day and saw the look on Father Gruner’s face.

A stunned and horrified look, caused by the announcement of a conference scheduled to take place in the Paul VI Center at the Fatima Shrine in Portugal, from October 10 – 12, 2003.

It was the 18-word conference title, especially the first eight words – “The Present of Man – the Future of God: The Place of Sanctuaries in the Relation to the Sacred” – that caused such a reaction.

Based on that title, Father ascertained and foretold – without any equivocation – “They are going to open the Shrine up to false worship by non-Catholics” (referring to the sanctuary built where Our Lady of Fatima appeared in 1917).

Subsequent to his prophetic statement, he said, “We’ve got to do something,” and immediately he rolled into action.

Within 24 hours, Father had approached Catholic Family News editor John Vennari (R.I.P.) and asked him to make plans to attend the conference and report directly to Father regarding the content of the conference.

Having no doubt that he was correct in his assessment of the diabolical plans of the Shrine rector and his willing accomplices, he tasked John with finding out specifically how bold they would be in introducing such an heretical and apostate plan, and the reaction of conference attendees once the plans were unveiled.

Father and other members of Our Lady’s apostolate were also in Fatima at that time. Mary Sedore (R.I.P.) was there leading a group of pilgrims from North America with Father, while Andrew, Marie Corpe, Joseph Cain and I were busy distributing to Portuguese and other pilgrims visiting the Shrine, the latest version of The Fatima Center publication, Chronology of a Cover-up.

Some of the pilgrims traveling with Father helped with distribution of the literature during the days that the group was in Fatima.

One of them was a former staff member, long-time friend and volunteer for Our Lady’s Apostolate, Bernadine (Bernie) Dumelie (R.I.P.) on pilgrimage with her sister, Dorothy (R.I.P.). Both octogenarians actively assisted with the distribution of the literature to visiting pilgrims.

The publication, Chronology of a Cover-up, was not a Fatima Shrine-rector-friendly publication, nor something the enemies of Fatima were favorable to because it unveiled the plot to silence Our Lady of Fatima by silencing some of the most outspoken of the advocates of Her Message:

Sister Lucy – silenced in 1960;

Father Alonso – silenced in 1975 – wrote the most extensive works ever written – 24 volumes – on the Fatima Apparitions, which were suppressed and not published (although decades later, some of the volumes were published, after being extensively edited);

Father Gruner – silenced in 1989 – by means of a campaign viciously maligning his reputation in order to keep people from listening to him about the Fatima Message.

As requested by Father, at the end of each of the 3 conference days, John reported back to him about what was presented daily by the speakers.

Listening to John’s end-of-the-day reports confirmed precisely what Father Gruner had predicted.

It was an inter-religious conference with representatives from the Anglican Church officially invited by the Rector of the Fatima Shrine, as well as Hindus, Buddhists, schismatic Orthodox, and others.

A large part of the overall theme was opening the Shrine up to all religions, and verbally refuting the dogma extra Ecclesiam nulla salus (outside the Church there is no salvation). The public heresy was applauded by the Shrine rector and members of the Portuguese hierarchy.

Yes, Father Gruner’s assessment in advance of the evil plans of these churchmen was correct.
