Collect (Prayer)

May the prayers of Thy blessed martyrs, Chrystanthus and Daria, be with us, O Lord, that we may continually experience the loving assistance of those to whom we pay homage of veneration. Through our Lord.

Epistle • 2 Cor. 6, 4-11

Lesson from the Epistle of blessed Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians.

BRETHREN: In all things let us exhibit ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in tribulation, in necessities, in distresses, In stripes, in prisons, in seditions, in labours, in watchings, in fastings, in chastity, in knowledge, in longsuffering, in sweetness, in the Holy Ghost, in charity unfeigned, In the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armour of justice on the right hand and on the left; By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; as unknown, and yet known; As dying, and behold we live; as chastised, and not killed; As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as needy, yet enriching many; as having nothing, and possessing all things.

Gradual • Ex. 15, 11

God is glorious in His saints: wonderful in majesty, doing wonders. Ex. 15, 6. Thy right hand, O Lord, is glorified in strength: Thy right hand hath broken the enemies.

Lesser Alleluia

Alleluia, alleluia. Ecclus. 44, 14. The bodies of the saints are buried in peace: and their names live unto generation and generation. Alleluia.

Gospel • Luke 11, 47-51

Continuation of the Holy Gospel According to St. Luke.

At that time, Jesus said to the Scribes and Pharisees, Woe to you who build the monuments of the prophets: and your fathers killed them. Truly you bear witness that you consent to the doings of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and you build their sepulchres. For this cause also the wisdom of God said: I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute. That the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation, from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, who was slain between the alter and the temple: Yea I say to you, It shall be required of this generation.

Offertory • Ps. 67, 36

God is wonderful in His saints: the God of Israel is He Who will give power and strength to His people: blessed to God. (P.T. alleluia.)

Secret

We offer Thee, O Lord, the gifts of our devotion; may they be rendered both pleasing unto Thee, for the honor of Thy just ones, and to us, through Thy mercy, helpful to salvation. Through our Lord.

Communion • Wis. 3, 4-6

And though in the sight of men they suffered torments, God hath tried them: as gold in the furnace He hath proved them, and as holocausts He hath received them.

Postcommunion

GRANT us, we beseech Thee, O Lord, by the intercession of Thy holy Martyrs, Saints Chrysanthus and Daria, that what we touch with our lips we may receive with our pure heart. Through our Lord.
