Patience – Sixth Day of April
“He that does not take up his cross and follow Me, is not worth of Me.” — St. Matt. 10:38.
O souls! You who sigh after tranquility and consolations, if you know how agreeable it is to God, and how advantageous for you, to suffer, you would never seek consolation in anything whatsoever, but would regard it as your greatest happiness to carry the cross and follow Jesus Christ. — St. John of the Cross.
Jesus Christ made known to St. Teresa that the souls with most love. From that moment sufferings were her delight. She declared she would not exchange her sufferings for all the treasures of the world. Her motto was, “Suffer or die.”
Yes, my Saviour, it is a great happiness to carry the cross after Thee. All the treasures of earth are not worth one cross. Grant that when I suffer it be with love of Thee, that it be my delight.
