Mayoral Conference Features Only Loony Left US Politicos,
Hailed by Francis as “Conscience of Humanity”

The latest absurd novelty in the post-conciliar Church — call it environmental ecumenism — has already revealed its contours. The just-concluded conference of mayors at the Vatican has uselessly discussed “sustainable development” and “human trafficking,” the latter being the Vatican’s politically correct distraction from the mass murder of unborn children occurring in all of the cities from which the mayors were summoned for this meeting of politicians from the Loony Left.
As Elizabeth Yore put it: “Down another rabbit hole we tumble.” Every one of the American invitees to this gathering was a far-Left Democrat. Not a single Republican mayor or governor attended. Yet Francis, addressing this coven of leftwing nuts, called them “the conscience of humanity.” Here is a rundown of the invitees Francis views as humanity’s conscience:
I detect something of a pattern here! To be serious, not the obvious pattern, but rather an indication of the one Francis established in the first year of his pontificate when he declared during the infamous interview with Civiltà Cattolica that “We cannot insist only on issues related to abortion, gay marriage and the use of contraceptive methods. This is not possible. I have not spoken much about these things, and I was reprimanded for that…. The dogmatic and moral teachings of the church are not all equivalent. The church’s pastoral ministry cannot be obsessed with the transmission of a disjointed multitude of doctrines to be imposed insistently.”
Hence, in Laudato si, the document that launched the “environmental ecumenism” blimp, Francis laments the loss of extinct plants and animals and the overuse of air-conditioning before he gets around to mentioning the need to “protect a human embryo” in the context of “the importance of concern for other vulnerable beings…”
Never once does he mention the reality that the countless millions of victims of abortion throughout the world are not “human embryos” but human beings with beating hearts, ripped limb-from-limb and even butchered like hogs at the very point of being born. Nor is there a single reference to contraception, a massive defiance of nature on the part of a world in rebellion against God, a world that slaughters the children who escape the worldwide contraceptive net. Apparently, the abandonment of the diabolically anti-natural evil of contraception does not figure in Francis’ notion of “ecological conversion.”
What was important to Francis at the meeting of the loony mayors, however, was the signing of a joint declaration that the upcoming “climate change summit” in Paris “could be ‘the last effective opportunity to negotiate arrangements that keep human-induced warming below 2 degrees centigrade.’” Here, once again, Francis abused his office by signing a document that committed the Holy See to the junk science of “climate change”: “human-induced climate change is a scientific reality and its effective control is a moral imperative for humanity.” No Pope has ever endorsed any purely scientific claim, much less a claim as dubious as this one. The recklessness is stunning.
Also high on the agenda was yet another Vatican address by the pro-abortion, climate change fanatic Jeffrey Sachs, the “expert on sustainable development” who “called for the world to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2070” — a goal about as realistic as the elimination of Original Sin by government fiat.
What does any of this nonsense have to do with the Catholic faith and the divinely appointed role of the Vicar of Christ in preserving and defending it? Absolutely nothing, of course. Never in Church history has a Pope labored so mightily to render the Church and his own office into servants of worthless human projects conceived by men who reject the law of the Gospel and the authority of Christ’s Church.
The disaster of this pontificate is summed up by Father Thomas Rosica’s own inadvertently hilarious but at the same time damning variation on Francis’ “smell of the sheep” mantra: “The church should smell like the world that it penetrates.” Today, it certainly does. And that worldly smell — the smell of “the smoke of Satan” entering the Church, which Paul VI too late lamented and did nothing to address — is precisely what the Third Secret of Fatima is all about.
