In the following article, all the news from the asterisk (*) onwards has been extracted from the issue of July/August 1982 of Soul magazine edited by Mr. John Haffert. Part of this report has been called into question, publicly by Approaches magazine, edited by Mr. Hamish Fraser, in his September 15, 1982 issue. (See the relevant extracts of Mr. Fraser’s report in “Last Minute News Flash” in this issue of The Fatima Crusader.)

Sister Lucy again went to Fatima to be present when the Pope visited Fatima. In 1967 Pope Paul VI asked her to come to Fatima on the occasion of his pilgrimage there. Early in the morning on May 13, 1982, Pope John Paul II also received in audience Sister Lucy at Fatima. In memory of her early years as a shepherdess, she presented His Holiness with a lamb made of white material and laden with Rosaries. This gift was made by the seer herself.

Sister Lucy, who has prayed and suffered now for sixty-five years for the triumph of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart over the forces of evil, remained at Fatima, on May 13, 1982. *In the evening of May 13th, experts at Fatima discussed whether the Collegial Act of Consecration made by the Pope and bishops that day had fulfilled Our Lord’s specific wishes as revealed to Sister Lucy in 1929. These experts then sought and were granted an audience with Sister Lucy. She answered their questions and said that Our Lord had accepted the consecration.

One of the people who spoke to Sister Lucy reported from memory his interview. The wording in every instance may not be exact. We are informed that Sister Lucy did not intend this interview to be a “public message to the world” but rather it seems it is meant as an urgent message to those laboring in the Apostolate of Fatima, so they will realize that because of the lateness of the Consecration, we may still have “the annihilation of nations” foretold by Our Lady in 1917, unless there is an adequate response on the part of the faithful.

We quote below from the above-mentioned interview with Sister Lucy, as reported in Soul magazine.

Was the consecration, as made by the Holy Father in union with the bishops of the world what Our Lord and Our Lady require according to the apparition of Our Lady to you on June 13, 1929?

Answer of Sister Lucy:
Yes, but it is late. It will have its effect, but it will depend on the greater or lesser fidelity of men to this consecration. As regards the correspondence of men to this consecration, the Blue Army has much to do.

We understood that when this act of consecration was made that the Immaculate Heart of Mary would triumph. Does this now mean that if men do not correspond there will be a chastisement, like a world war?

Answer of Sister Lucy:
Yes, precisely. If men do not correspond there will be more suffering. But the victory of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will come because She has promised this.

NOTE: At this point Sister Lucy explained that men chastise themselves when they do evil. She cited suffering in Russia as an example of this.

We were wondering whether the consecration was made as requested, since the Pope did not explicitly mention Russia in the act of consecration itself?

Answer of Sister Lucy:
His Holiness consecrated the whole world, and Russia is included, and His Holiness was referring to Russia when he mentioned the countries most in need of this consecration.”
